Three CIA agents: JP Narayan, Morarji, and one group of Jansangh, were working against Indira Gandhi. JP Narayan's one relative was a judge in the Allahabad High Court who delivered a biased judgment in a case of the Lok Sabha election of Indira Gandhi that was a fabricated four-year-old case. In early 1975, roti in Gujarat and cows in Bihar became issues in the JP revolt.
The assassination of the then railway minister was performed by tying a bomb to his body. Even the Supreme Court stayed the Allahabad High Court's verdict on the election case of Indira Gandhi two days before the imposition of emergency. For 15 days, the railway was shut down; that never happened. It is a known fact the CIA was also trying to topple Indira Gandhi. JP Narayan appealed to the army and police not to follow the government. It was an act of anti-nation.
Even Indira Gandhi was willing to arrest the JP, but Mankeshaw, then the army chief, stopped Indira Gandhi from arresting him. The JP revolt was mainly urban elites sponsoring anti-nation activity. Even the national emergency was not unconstitutional because it followed the provisions of Article 352. After failing the JP revolt, RSS took the religion to pursue its communal political agenda. The emergency was revoked by Indira Gandhi on 23 March 1977, not by the Supreme Court. The emergency saved the country from falling into the jaws of communal and foreign forces.
The main reasons for JP Narayan's revolt against Indira Gandhi were the following: 1. RSS and JP Gang were not ready to accept a woman as the prime minister. 2. The CIA wanted the regime change in India after the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. 3. India's Pokhran nuclear test of 1974. 4. Nationalization of banks and railways. 5. Political ambitions of Jan Sangh, Morarji Desai, and others. The democracy was sacrificed but did not die during the emergency. 50 years ago there was a declared emergency, but in the last 10 we have been experiencing an undeclared emergency.
