Secularism does not apply only to religious perspectives, but it applies to caste, race, clan, and sex also because, like these, religion also has a social nature and structure. If religion is a personal matter, then it does not need to have a secular tag, but when a religion becomes a public affair, then it needs the secular tag. A religion is a form of faith and a mode of spiritual practice. But every individual's spiritual practice can't be the same. In the present context of religious activities, especially in Hindu society, they are seen in a collective nature. Therefore, secularism is applied where the shared faith and collective practice of spirituality exist. Secularism is not a faith or mode of spirituality, but it is an atmosphere that can be created by the state or society. The laws of secularism can be created either by the judiciary or the legislature but can be protected by the executive authority. Secularism is a religious atmosphere where the state appears neutral and provides equal treatment to all individuals. The present nature and structure of religion in India require a secular state to play a neutral role and to create a favourable atmosphere. Every individual needs an equal space and freedom to express their faith and practice spirituality under the secular state.
