About 18 years ago, California voted to build a high‑speed rail line connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles. To this day, not a single section of track has been laid for the project. Because the oil/gas and auto industries attempt to destroy anything that might cut into their profits. Especially public transportation and any other form of energy production.
Also, 18 years ago, China launched its first high‑speed railway. Today, China has built more than 50,000 kilometres of high‑speed rail, accounting for over 70% of the world’s total mileage.
China delivers results, while the US is stuck in bickering. The problem is the laws and the social contract, not an evil industry in the US.
In 2013, China’s national average of annual PM2.5 air quality concentration stood at 89.5 μg/m³. By 2025, it had dropped to 27 μg/m³.
China is a nation governed by engineers who build things, and America is a nation governed by lawyers who impede progress.
